Explore a Romantic Victorian Garden Located in Philadelphia's Chestnut Hill section, Morris Arboretum is a lavish 92-acre Victorian landscape and sculpture garden that beckons guests to steal some quiet, romantic moments. The 19 th -century garden features majestic old trees, a variety of bird species, a formal rose garden, and numerous plants from North America, Africa, Europe, and Asia. The Morris Arboretum also hosts summer events throughout the season, which are ideal opportunities for a picnic. Dinner and a Show What's a more classic date than dinner and a show? Rather than head to the local movie theater, however, take your date to the Arden Theatre Company on North 2 nd Street. The Arden has featured some of the world's best-known works, including classics by Shakespeare, Tennessee Williams, and Stephen Sondheim, plus a nice sampling of contemporary productions. After catching a show, walk to Cuba Libre for some tasty Cuban cuisine, rum, and late-night salsa dancing. Try a Dance Class Society Hill Dance Academy is a great destination for couples looking to learn a new skill. No experience is necessary to try academy's group introduction classes, which teach you the basics of the tango, foxtrot, cha-cha, salsa, or rumba. The facility even offers a number of special events throughout the season, including a Friday Night Dance Party with monthly theme nights, surprise performances, and light refreshments. On March 29, 2016, Max Paul’s Central City Toyota helped the Community Bible Tabernacle by providing tickets to the Philadelphia 76ers versus the Charlotte Hornets game at the Wells Fargo Center. According to Bishop Stacey Roberts of the Community Bible Tabernacle, “This was the first time for them to attend an NBA game and they had a ball. In order to be eligible to attend I had them do an exercise during Black History Month.  They had to write an essay on a community charity or philanthropic endeavor headed by a Black athlete or celebrity.  They did a great job.” Bishop Roberts went on to say “I want to thank Max Paul for making this evening of fun a possibility for us.  It is something I am sure they will never forget.” We would like to also recognize the efforts of longtime Central City Toyota employee George Bullock, who led the efforts to create this amazing evening for these students.

On Tuesday, November 24th and Wednesday, November 25th, 2015, the Annual Manna Pie In The Sky Pickup takes place at Ardmore and Central City Toyota! As official pickup locations for MANNA, Central City Toyota and Ardmore Toyota will have volunteers on hand to help those who purchase a pie, pick them up just in time for Thanksgiving. Central City Toyota is pleased to announce that it donated 78 brand-new winter coats in 2015 to the Driving Away the Cold program. The coats our dealership donated will be distributed by People's Emergency Center and Tabernacle Community Church to underprivileged children living in the five-county region of Philadelphia. We are proud to help the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation donate a record 42,000 new coats this year! It’s a sad fact that 1 in 6 children in the Philadelphia area live in poverty. With our fellow new vehicle dealers, over the last 8 years we’ve donated over 220,000 new winter coats to Philadelphia area kids in need.  We hope this gift will help their winters be a little warmer and brighter. Driving Away the Cold has distributed more than 220,000 new coats since 2008 using a network of YMCAs, social service agencies, school districts, homeless shelters and more. On Tuesday, September 15 th, 2015, University Of Pennsylvania (UPenn) Japanese Exchange Students, who are studying at the University of Penn in English Language Programs to become engineers for Toyota Motor Sales, visited Central City Toyota to learn about the operations of an American Toyota Dealership from General Manager Jamie Haberle. The students enjoyed seeing the facility inside and out and getting a behind the scenes look of what it is like for cus­tomers and employees in an Ameri­can Toyota Dealership. We thank Ian and Katie at UPenn in the English Language Programs Department for helping to coordinate this visit for a 5 th consecutive year!

On Tuesday August 25 th, Max Paul Park hosted a drum instructor for two sessions to teach children traditional drumming and chanting. The drum instructor is from the neighborhood and frequently visits Max Paul Park. Dozens of children were able to share the drums and learn.  This end of summer celebration for the children also included a 30 minute healthy snack break. Thank you to Ardmore Toyota, Central City Toyota and The Enterprise Center for helping to put on a wonderful event at Max Paul Park at 46 th & Market Street in West Philadelphia, University City.   An urban pocket park adjacent to the Walnut Hill community farm located in West Philadelphia honoring Max Paul: Welcoming all ages to the Max Paul Park, several community events are hosted there through the generous support of Max Paul and his family.  On August 25 th, a children’s drumming event was held with a book bag and school supplies give-a-way.  Marking the event with excellence: 20 sets of drums for the children’s drumming fun and pleasure, 2 drum instructors for harmonious sounds and rhythm.  Children listening, learning and growing in the arts and culture music.  Stay connected to learn the date and time of the next Max Paul Park event: Arts on the Park!

This past summer, Max Paul and Ardmore Toyota helped with children being able to go to Tennis camp, run by Lowell Rich. On Saturday, August 15th, Max Paul’s, Central City Toyota and Paul Bros Auto Body helped sponsor a Block Party for residents of the 47th and Westminster area in West Philadelphia at the Clara Muhammad Park. The event was attended by over 300 people who enjoyed music, games, refreshments and a free barbeque. On Tuesday August 4 th, Max Paul’s Central City Toyota hosted camp students from The Enterprise Center at 46 th and Market in University City, Philadelphia. Malyka Sankofa, Director of Women and Youth Programs for The Enterprise Center, brought over 40 summer camp youth students on a walking trip to Central City Toyota.  Students had the opportunity to do what most teens never have the chance to do and see the inner workings of a car dealership and learn about car ownership.  Students learned the importance of saving to purchase an auto and were educated on the terminology involved in how to negotiate for a new car.  Malyka wanted the students to understand that their purchase should be made at a dealership in their community because support of a community business helps their community’s economy. Students asked some of the most amazing questions to Jamie Haberle, General Manager of Central City Toyota. We thank Malyka and The Enterprise Center for bringing this amazing group of students to Central City Toyota. On Thursday July 23 rd, 2015, Max Paul’s Ardmore Toyota hosted another successful New Owner Celebration for new Toyota owners. Customers were treated to a wonderful deli-style buffet dinner from Hymies Deli in Merion, PA. New owners had the opportunity to meet Service Directors, George Davis and Chuck Bradshaw from Ardmore and Central City Toyota respectively. Jamie Haberle, General Manager of Central City Toyota, was the guest emcee for the evening and had the new Toyota owners laughing and enjoying the fun while learning about their new Toyota’s. Technicians Gerard, Ian and TJ as well as technology genius Dario were on hand answering customers questions. Customers even had the opportunity to meet Max Paul at the Celebration, as Max stopped by to thank the customers for their business and continued loyalty. At the end of the celebration, there were a dozen prizes handed out and one winner, Anil, won a new iPad! Congratulations to Anil and all Ardmore Toyota new owners. It was a hot day on Tuesday, July 21 st at Max Paul Park on 46 th & Market, but that didn’t stop dozens of children and their families from visiting the park to enjoy an afternoon snack and drinks prior to the first ever book reading at Max Paul Park. Children and parents in attendance were treated to a book reading by Nahjee Grant. Nahjee read his book “Newie-Big City Dreams” to the children. Also, on behalf of Ardmore Toyota and Central City Toyota and The Enterprise Center, children left with a signed copy of Nahjee’s book titled “Believe in yourself: A Mirror of Hope.” We hope everyone had a wonderful time at the book reading. Our team had the honor of sponsoring the Third Annual Sojourner Truth Walk last month! Our team assisted in helping the attendees surpass their goal and raise $21,000 to send 65 Philly girls to Camp Sojourner this summer and offer free arts and leadership programs year-round. More than 170 people walked together in the streets and spreading positive images of girls’ and women’s leadership throughout West Philadelphia, highlighting social justice activists from Sojourner Truth to the present.
