Toyota: One of the Top 10 Companies Changing the World

It’s not every day a company gets named to Fortune magazine’s Change the World List, but Toyota has managed to do it twice in three years. In 2015, Toyota had extreme success with hybrid vehicles and earned the number three spot on that year’s list. And for its most recent honor? The Japanese automaker was ranked number eight out of 50 competing companies for its work with hydrogen strategy and for introducing its new hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, the Toyota Mirai. Why Toyota Was Named an Agent of Change Fortune and its partners, FSG, the Shared Value Initiative, and Professor Michael E. Porter of Harvard Business School, rank the chosen companies using the following three factors: Measurable social impact Business results Degree of innovation Finally, Fortune editors choose finalists using other reporting and analysis metrics. The Change the World List recognizes global leaders who are “doing well by doing good,” and Toyota is proud to be recognized for upholding these standards. Toyota Motor North America chief executive officer Jim Lentz stated that “the Mirai hydrogen fuel cell vehicle is leading the way toward positive change and a more sustainable tomorrow.” The key? Using hydrogen as fuel. Hydrogen fuel cells produce zero carbon-emissions. What’s more, hydrogen is one of the most abundant resources on the planet and can be found in water, plants, and manure. Toyota decided to harness the power of this clean energy for its latest innovation, the Toyota Mirai. Although currently available in California, the Mirai is helping to make great strides toward the clean transportation drivers crave. The Most 'American-Made' Car is Also the Best-Selling

Have you heard the news? The best-selling car for the past 14 years is on its way to set yet another trend, this time one that comes to us as no surprise. Cars.com, in their American-Made Index, rates vehicles built and brought into the U.S based on several factors to ultimately determine those whose are the most American-made. Can you guess which car is on this list? Here's a hint. If you guessed Camry, you are correct! The Camry was rated as the most American-made vehicle. This is a position the Camry has held for the second straight year, and the sixth time overall it was included on the list. The factors used to determine those results include the percentage of parts considered domestic under federal regulations, whether the car is assembled in the U.S. and also includes U.S. sales. If a model is determined to have a parts content rating below 75 percent, they are disqualified. This also includes models built exclusively outside the U.S. or models that are on their way to being discontinued without any kind of U.S. built successor. All these factors gave way to the eventual rating of the Camry - an astounding 75 percent American. As a bonus, the Sienna is yet another vehicle included on the list and it ranked third overall. Not a bad way to end June if we say so ourselves.   For more information on the Camry and its stellar rating, please be sure to visit: http://toyota.us/28YrzCb

Toyota Safety Sense will be standard on most Toyota’s

On March 21 st, 2016, Toyota announced that, beginning with the 2018 model year, it would make Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) and Lexus Safety System+ (LSS+) standard on almost every Toyota and Lexus trim level in the United States. The systems are anchored by automatic emergency breaking, which means Toyota is making that technology available four years ahead of the 2022 industry target announced last week by the federal government. Already available as a low-cost option on a broad range of Toyota and Lexus vehicles, TSS and LSS+ are designed to help address three key areas of crash protection: preventing or mitigating frontal collisions keeping drivers within their lane enhancing road safety during nighttime driving. “At Toyota, we are committed to creating better ways to move for everyone,” said Jim Lentz, President and CEO of Toyota Motor North America. Don’t Worry, Be Happy… With Your Toyota!

Are you a worrier? There is so much in the world to be worried about. But if you are looking for one less thing to worry about when it comes to your car, then look no further than Toyota. If you have a Toyota or Lexus, you can cross it off your list of things that keep you up at night. Cars.com just unveiled its Worry Free Index for 2015. 5 of the top 13 Worry free models are Toyota’s that includes: No. 1 Avalon Hybrid No. 7 Toyota Avalon No. 8 Toyota Tundra No. 9 Toyota Highlander No. 13 Toyota Prius No other automaker put more than three models in the Top 15! How did Cars.com come to this result with their Worry Free Index? They compiled the list by taking “the market’s top 120 sellers through September 2015 (roughly 90 percent of new cars sold) and analyzed reliability scores from thousands of Cars.com consumers over the most recent model years. We also scrutinized expected repair costs, which gauge the frequency and seriousness when things go wrong. But reliability alone isn’t the only component of what makes a car worry-free, so we looked at five-year estimated maintenance costs (which factor in any free-maintenance programs) and manufacturer warranties, as well.” To learn more about the Worry Free Index, click here!
