partyThe biggest benefit of living in a large city like Philadelphia is having access to some of the most exciting performance in existence. This is especially true in the summer months when popular acts from all over the world make their way to the City of Brotherly Love.

If you want to make sure that your summer in Philly is filled with fun and entertainment, then it’s important that you learn about some of the can’t-miss events the city will offer over the next few months.

Wicked

If you’re a fan of Broadway musicals but don’t have the time or money to head to New York for a show, then a must-see event for you in Philadelphia this summer is Wicked. One of the most popular Broadway shows of all time, Wicked is a reimagining of characters from the Wizard of Oz set to one of the most memorable songbooks you’ll ever hear.

The traveling production of Wicked comes to the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts July 26th to August 27th, and tickets are available right now.

Philadelphia International Children’s Festival

When you’re looking for fun events to attend in Philadelphia this summer, you may want to find something that will be fun for the whole family. If you want your children to have a great time while broadening their horizons, the best event to attend this summer is the Philadelphia International Children’s Festival.

Taking place at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Pennsylvania, the Children’s Festival is an event dedicated to instilling the children of Philadelphia with a love of theater. This year’s event is the Festival’s thirtieth edition and promises to be the best one yet. Taking place between May 18th and May 20th, the International Children’s Festival is a great opportunity for you and your children to see amazing productions from around the world.

Metallica

Just because you’re older, it doesn’t mean that you still don’t enjoy your music turned up to eleven, and if you want to see one of the loudest bands in the world, then you need to make sure to see Metallica when they come to Philadelphia later this summer.

Performing for over thirty-five years, Metallica is still going strong and is coming to Philadelphia to play at the Lincoln Financial Center. With songs from their most recent album, Hardwired, as well as a few classic hits, this is a show that you won’t want to miss.

Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra Lord of the Rings

Movie enthusiasts know that nothing is more important to a film than its soundtrack, and if you want a one of a kind experience, then you need to attend the concert in the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra’s Lord of the Rings Series.

On June 24th at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts, the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra will perform the award-winning score from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King alongside a special screen of the film. Tickets start at $45 and are currently on sale.

Attend any of these excellent summer events in Philadelphia and you’ll have a fun evening that you won’t soon forget.
