Paul Bros. Auto Body is one of only a few automobile collision specialists in existence for 100 years. Max Paul opened his first bicycle repair shop in 1905. The shop was renamed Lincoln Highway Garage in 1908. Business expanded and Max explored additional opportunities within the auto repair sector. After the First World War, there was a rise in automobile sales and Max's popularity had spread in Philadelphia. Max moved to a larger location at 3957 Baltimore Avenue in 1925 and offered different collision repair services.
America witnessed the Great Depression in the '30s. Max was forced to reorganize Lincoln Auto Body because of mounting bills and the loss of business due to poor economic conditions. Max had trained his sons, Edward and Harry, in the business. They combined all their assets, moved the business to 4738 Market Street and reopened with a new name "Paul Bros. Auto Body Rehabilitators" in 1931. By 1935, Paul Bros. was fully recovered from the devastating effects of the Depression. Seeing tremendous potential in automobile business, Harry and Max introduced Central City Toyota , the first Toyota agency in Philadelphia in March, 1969.
